Our History

Our history

Shear Transformations emerged from Shear Power Ventures to pursue innovative initiatives in communities in Ghana and the sub-region.  Founded in 2008 Shear Power Ventures (SPV) programs were designed to tease out people’s strengths to deliver results.  We have guided our clients to take ownership of their learning and rediscovery by stimulating and progressively heightening their awareness.

Secondly, SPV has supported, challenged, excited, and helped to continually redirect thinking towards problem solving. And thirdly, by so doing SPV has empowered its constituents to re-connect with themselves and the environment to broaden and sharpen their perspectives, review their assumptions, critique and reorganize information, and apply learning in ways that best compliments their strengths and supports optimal results within organizations and human systems.

In addition to offering training to corporate organizations and community groups, in 2008 SPV’s pilot event of Portrait of an Excellent Woman Awards awarded and lends support to enterprising female philanthropists chosen by their communities across the 10 regions.

In 2011 SPV organized roundtable discussions for women in leadership on the role of women in Local Economic Development (LED); and again in 2016 organized stakeholder engagements on the role of the private sector in LED.

Between 2013 and 2016 SPV’s micro-credit arm conducted various community interventions with women in Ashaiman in entrepreneurship, money management and provision of micro-credit for over 2000 women.

In recognition that many of SPV’s work focuses on improving quality of life, it became necessary to establish Shear Power Transformations, in order to invite partnerships as we streamline our interventions and connect with donors and stakeholders who share our core values and interest areas, to attain more focused and effective results.
